Fort Lauderdale Travel Guide
Welcome to Fort Lauderdale!
Fort Lauderdale has been nicknamed the Venice of America and lives up to the name with a palm-fringed shoreline and a number of waterways. Many cruise lines and yachts surround the harbor and more than seven miles of beach offers residents and visitors opportunities for recreation, relaxation and enjoyment. For arts in the area, visitors can try the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival, an annual event that sees over 100 films screened. Beachgoers can participate in a wide range of activities from boating, jet skiing and volleyball to snorkeling, scuba diving and deep-sea fishing. Sports enthusiasts visiting the area can take in Fort Lauderdale Stadium, the spring training ground for the Baltimore Orioles. Visitors can stroll through seven acres of gardens while brilliantly colored butterflies fly around at Butterfly World. The Broward Center for the Performing Arts, on the banks of the New River, allows guests to arrive for performances by boat. A number of museums are scattered throughout the city, including the Museum of Discovery and Science and the International Swimming Hall of Fame, both of which provide insight into Fort Lauderdale and the surrounding area.
